NEET UG 2026 Result: Counselling Schedule and Seat Matrix Explained

The NEET UG 2026 result has been declared by the National Testing Agency, giving lakhs of aspiring doctors, dentists and AYUSH students their score, percentile and All India Rank in one scorecard. Because NEET UG feeds into two separate counselling systems — All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota — understanding which one applies to you is the first step after checking your result.

All India Quota vs State Quota

15% of seats in every government medical college are reserved for the All India Quota, counselled centrally by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The remaining 85% of government seats, plus all private and deemed university seats, are counselled at the state level by each state's own authority, using state-specific reservation rules and domicile criteria.

How the seat matrix works

• Each round of counselling publishes a seat matrix showing exactly how many seats are available per college, per course (MBBS/BDS), and per category.
• Seats vacated after one round (due to upgrades or non-reporting) flow into the next round's matrix — this is why the matrix looks different in Round 1, Round 2, and mop-up rounds.
• Your rank determines your position in the queue, not a guaranteed seat — always fill your choices realistically across a range of ranks, not only your top preference.

Documents to keep ready

NEET admit card, scorecard, Class 10 and 12 marksheets, category/EWS certificate if applicable, a valid ID, and passport-size photographs are commonly required at every counselling stage — both online registration and physical reporting.
