In the Budget 2024-2025, the Indian government introduced the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) to offer young Indians valuable experience in the corporate sector. Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme: Eligibility

  • Candidate must be an Indian citizen
  • Age limit: 21-24 years 
  • Must not employed full-time or engaged in full-time education. (Note: Candidates enrolled in online or distance learning programmes are eligible.)
  • Candidate must have completed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or its equivalent, Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent, or hold a certificate from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI), a diploma from a Polytechnic Institute, or a graduation degree such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma, etc.
  • Graduates from IITs, IIMs, National Law Universities, IISER, NIDs, or IIITs.
  • Individuals with advanced qualifications such as CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MBA, PhD, or any master’s degree or higher qualification (recognized by the UGC) are not eligible to apply.
  • Anyone with the income of any of your family members exceeding INR 8 lakh for FY 2023-24.
  • Government employees or anyone whose parents or spouse are regular government employees. 

PM Internship Scheme 2024: Support and Benefits

The students who will participating in the internships will get paid through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme. The candidates will paid a total of Rs 5000 per month for the entire duration of 12 months. The amount will paid in two parts; check the details below:

  • Every month the company, based on the attendance and related company policies regarding good conduct, etc. will release Rs. 500 to each intern from the Company’s CSR funds
  • After Company makes the payment, Government will release remaining Rs 4500 to the candidate through Direct Benefit Transfer to the intern’s Aadhaar-seed bank account
  • The government will also provide a one-time grant of Rs 6,000 to each intern by the government through Direct Benefit Transfer upon the intern’s joining at the internship location.
